SUZY DARLING is a dentist. She is an emotionally retarded rationalist who moves with her head in the clouds not dreaming but labelling weather patterns. She has moved so single-mindedly through life that she hasn’t stopped to smell the roses - and it has worked up to a point. Her life appears to be successful and fulfilled. A champion gymnast as a child, it taught her self-discipline and honed her competitive spirit; she believes she was a whisker away from going to the Olympics and she can still turn a somersault if she feels the urge. She married a rich & interesting entrepreneur (Steve) and has a lovely house and two beautiful children (Verity & Elvis). She is an excellent dentist, whose university degrees hang alongside her old gymnastics trophies & medals. But her heart has become ossified & her spirit condemned to pace about in a smaller and smaller place as Suzy lives her life the way she imagines one should, and not as she truly desires.
