Spirited Synopsis

In series one, Suzy and Henry journeyed from exasperated odd couple to vulnerable soul mates. Along the way they argued about everything from smoking to cheese, from politics to ponies until finally admitting that they "liked" each other.

But strange things happen when a ghost and a mortal fall in love, and in series two when Henry returns to Suzy and The Elysian, he brings the party with him … an entire entourage of rowdy ghosts return with Henry and take up residence in Suzy's apartment. Fully aware of the power of Suzy and Henry's connection, this ragtag bunch of weird, wonderful and kindly spirits have come to see for themselves the infamous ghost Henry Mallet and his relationship with a "Live One".

The joy of series two is watching Suzy and Henry navigate this new world and the pressures it brings to their love and sanity. Whilst their yearning to be together physically results in some hilariously hare-brained schemes, they stumble across the knowledge that their rare and unusual love is not a first, and there is a way for them to be together - but the cost is colossal.

While Suzy and Henry debate that cost, Suzy finds herself the object of a powerful and charismatic new ghost's attention. 'The King' presents as a wise and ancient soul, but he is soon revealed as something more sinister. And the closer they get to discovering and exposing his shocking past, the more dangerous he becomes. Meanwhile, Henry is under threat from a new and unexpected source. Rita's new friend, Jennifer the Make-up Lady, is a sweet young woman who wants to put his soul to rest. Forever. And she has a rather un-ladylike way of going about it …

Series two also sees Jonquil and Zac loved up and living downstairs, having moved into Suzy's apartment block. Zac becomes the definitive expert on Henry Mallet when he finally completes and releases his Mallet biography. Whilst Jonquil toys with the idea of having a baby, her life is turned upside down the day her long lost mother re-enters their lives and Jonquil learns the true meaning of "Be careful what you wish for…."

Steve, Suzy's lovable, serial pest of an ex, returns with a new obsession. No longer determined to solve the confounding riddle of why Suzy dumped him, he is determined instead to reconnect with his "spirit guy" who he saw when he died for 92 seconds and he goes to extraordinary lengths to find him. Steve's quest gets sidetracked when he meets Jennifer the Make-up Lady, and the sparks fly.

Meanwhile, Elvis has moved in with his father and calmly endures Steve's exhortations to "man up" including having to walk around in their undies. But will he remain so calm when Steve orders him to kill his pet pig?

Verity forms some strong new attachments – to her new Nanna; and to Jennifer, the Make-up Lady, who employs her and teaches her some exciting new skills.

Spirited is a fantastical but very real romance between a ghost and a dentist who must find a way to be together in the real, and the magical, anarchic and spirit world. But can Suzy love Henry and keep up the appearances of a normal life? What price, ultimately, will they pay for love?
