How can I obtain a copy of a show I saw on W.?

Unfortunately we do not accept requests from viewers to sell or distribute copies of programs aired on W.

Selling or distributing any of the on air material would mean a breach of our legal obligations and contracts. That said, some distributors do sell some of their programs on video/DVD or sell program merchandise and transcripts.

Shows such as Oprah and Dr Phil have websites where it is possible to purchase shows, transcripts, merchandise etc.

Alternatively, try searching on www.google.com or www.amazon.com for the programs or products you wish to purchase

Are W. shows closed-captioned?

W. was activated for closed captioning in early 2006. Currently the following programs are closed captioned: Sex and The City, Desperate Housewives and some seasons of Law & Order.

How do new shows get chosen and when do new shows get aired on W.?

Ultimately the shows on W. are chosen by the Programming Department and Management. All shows are viewed with groups to gauge a wide variety of tastes. If all groups agree then it's a pretty good sign that the show will suit the channel. Due to contractual reasons, sometimes it can take a number of months before the program is broadcast. Also due to the fact many programs need to be sent from overseas there can sometimes be delivery delays.

Our objective is to provide a complete program schedule that showcases the best that W. can from Australia and around the world.

How long after The View airs in the States does the show air on W.

Literally hours. The View is recorded at our Sydney broadcast centre as the program airs in the States. It is then edited and checked for errors and put to air that day.

The exception to this is the Friday US episodes, which premiere on Saturday nights at 6.30pm and then replay on Monday afternoons.

Why did you repeat today's episode of The View?

The View hosts go on holiday occasionally - referred to as hiatus in the States - in which case we select an episode that we think is a good one or that viewers have requested from the last 3 months and air that popular episode. There are other reasons we may have to repeat an episode and these include:

The episode had satellite transmission problems and was too faulty to air.

There are clearance issues in the States and NBC aren't letting the episode be seen outside the US (e.g. the musical guest doesn't want to be seen outside the US or with the Olympics, Channel 7's coverage rights meant we couldn't air anything to do with the Olympics).

The feed from the satellite came through too late therefore requiring us to air another episode.

How can I find out what guests/topics are coming up on The View?

As we receive schedule information on The View at the last minute, sometimes this information may not be reflected in the TV guide section, but we will keep our The View page up to date with the latest information we have.

Who makes the local productions on W.?

Local productions are produced either in-house or by awarding the commissions to outside Australian production companies.
